Curriculum

Bingham Kindergarten follows the teaching curriculum recommended by the Government, as defined by their guidelines, officially known as 'The Early Years Foundation Stage', or the EYFS.

​

The EYFS is the stage of a child's development from birth to the end of the reception year. It is a framework that describes the best way that early years' practitioners should work with children and their families to support their development and learning.

​

The EYFS ensures:

• children learn through play.

• providers work closely with parents.

• your child's learning at home is taken into account.

• you are kept up-to-date on your child's progress.

• the welfare, learning and all-round development of children from different backgrounds and levels of ability, including those with special educational needs and disabilities is met.

 

The EYFS is based on four themes/principles:

• A Unique Child - Every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.

• Positive Relationships - Children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and/or a key person.

• Enabling Environments - The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children's development and learning.

• Learning and Development – Recognizes that children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates, and that all areas of learning and development are equally important and interconnected.

• The EYFS framework explains how and what your child will be learning to support their development.

• Your child will be learning skills, acquiring new knowledge and demonstrating their understanding through 7 areas of learning and development. These areas are:

• Physical Development

• Personal, Social and Emotional Development

• Literacy

• Mathematics

• Understanding the World.

• Expressive Arts and Design
